reduced engine power light - no response

04GT

New member
got an 04 gp GTna that I just did upper and lower intake gaskets on, ran great for a weeek and now at startup in the mornings (every once in a while) it says "reduced engine power and will not do ANYTHING.
any help is appreciated on solving this. no engine codes are being thrown

Put factory wires and plugs on the car... or heh try resetting the computer by removing negative battery cable over night.

Check the throttle body.. this happened to me and my TB wasnt working properly.. switched it out and havent had a problem since

I don't believe its bad because after I shut it off and back on its fine. but I've been wrong before.

could be really dirty.. and the plate is getting stuck when its trying to adjust idle or something stupid like that. Get it scanned even if it has no SES light could be a stored code.

when I did the intake I cleaned the TB and everything sspotless.

What he said. Check the connection then try cleaning the maf. But still get codes pulled.

ok maf sensor reads ok on the scan tool. tps reads 1% at. idle... and no ENGINE codes but I did. find a transfer code which might have something to do with it because when It freaks out. it says "service traction control system" too. the code is:
C0240 powertrain control module traction control not allowed

See thats why i am leaning towards the TB.. mine works perfectly fine right up until thw point when i did a gasket change and clean the TB... after i put it back on it started to mess up..

Can you scan? What is the throttle volts reading?

everything is normal on the scan tool... last few days it hasn't done it.. cross my fingers.

did the check engine light ever come on? or just the message in the info center?

and when it acts up it just idles and the gas pedal dont work?

did it this morning but I was ready witth the scan tool got it to throw a code. came up with throttle actuator something ...

and yup, when the message appears it runs, barely and the pedal doesn't do anything. turn it off and start it back up and its fine

Sounds like your ETB control is going bad, or you have a bad connection. Try reseating the plug. If that doesn't work the throttle actuator control is bad/going bad. junk yard part less than $100.
