Redoing suspension, what do you recommend?

I'm gonna be redoing the suspension on my '05 and I may as well lower it while I'm in there :D

So obviously struts and springs, I'll probably go with GR2s, not sure which springs I want to use yet.
I have no idea how many miles are on the current parts, but I'm pretty sure it's like riding a kangaroo right now and I can hear the parts jiggling over huge bumps. It needs to be replaced.
Idiot questions. which parts should I inspect to see if I could reuse?
Could I use Monroe mounts with KYB struts?
Should I replace the sway bars?
How low could I go without killing GR2s?
Or should I just do quick struts and call it a day?

I'd like to save up more money and get really great stuff, but it's becoming a necessity about now.

Yup you can use Monroe mounts with kyb struts

You could upgrade to 97-03 style control arms and run a bigger swap bar like the GMPP or dorman.

Hard to say how much you can lower it without killing your struts.. It's one of those risk you take when you lower it. Some guys get good life out of gr2 some will blow them quick.

Quick struts are gayy especially if you plan on lowering it.

Gr2's with SSC aka canuck motorsports springs should last a along time. Yes you could blow a strut out quick but it's not likely to happen but figure 50K+ miles before it might turn rougher.

I'm not like overly concerned with the life of the struts with how it rides right now. Like they've gotta be completely blown. If they last like 20k I'd be a happy guy. It's a risk I'm willing to take in order to get my car out of the sky ;)

FWIW I did KYB GR2's with Vogtland springs and Monroe mounts all the way around. I've put 80K miles on the setup and the struts are still doing a great job. I ...am impressed so far.

I did a lot more too..but some folks would consider that overkill

awesome!

whenever i'm about to spend a lot of money, i get sick to my stomach and chicken out. doesn't help i've never done suspension on my own before!
we'll see how badly i kcuf up!

Suspension isn't that difficult if you take a few precautions.

Like Elite says the spring is about the only part that can hurt you badly. A decent compressor tool and some diligence goes a long way.
