Recall

is this a new recall or just a revison of the old one?

Looks like something new... 1.5 million?

Hell, i wonder what they are going to be doing, the last one involved a front valve cover gasket, which i never did.

I don't want the dealership tearing into my setup.

This one all they are going to do is replace the spark plug wire retainer

How is that going to stop oil from leaking on the front manifold? Im sure after several complaints there are now doing the same repair as the first recall. Front rocker cover gasket and a couple retainers.

It won't stop the oil. But apparently it takes a "jumping off point" away from the potential fire so it won't spread. </sarcasm>

It's more work to pull the 00+ L36 valve cover because of the aluminum/steel passenger motor mount bracket. They're taking the easy way out so they don't have to mess with it.

anyone heard when we r gona receive this

I contacted my GM dealer, Bob Weaver in Pottsville, PA, and they checked my vin and did the recall. All they replaced were my spark plug wire retainers. The "bill" that was written up said it would have cost $17.84 with labor......ooooo.... So anyway, I guess my won't spontaneously combust now....lol.

Thats bull. Sounds like they just don't wanna shell out the money to do it before they absolutely have to. They can look it up via your vin and see if your ride needs the recall or not. They also check to see if any other recalls need to be taken care of and should do a "safety" inspection, with a list of any other repairs that may be needed.

i got a recall letter. too bad i dont have the l36 top end anymore OR the stupid plastic retainers for the wires....

who leaves that on their car? seriously?
