• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Rebuilt top end

Just about finished putting back together the top end of my 98 GTP. Getting a ported blower and I have SSAC headers that are going on. Might do a CAI once I have another set of wheels for wet/winter driving around here. Question is what plugs does everybody recommend and what about motor oil? The car is a daily driver however I have a lead foot and like to use the SC whenever I can.

No other mods. Going to build a full new motor before I really start modding.

Basically wondering plug brand and if I should drop a heat range or not. Also conventional or synthetic and if there is a recommend brand to get and/or any to stay away from.

Can of worms...

Big one.

What pulley?

That dictates the plug.

Oil is funny... I'd venture to guess any synthetic 10w-30 would be just fine.

Did you have the oil filter adapter off?

Currently stock pulley might drop down a size or 2 if I can do it safely. Also need to find someone around here that can tune or pick up HP tuners myself. Did not have the filter adapter off.

Yeah but I like to fish so the bigger the better.

Anyway tomorrow she'll be ready for fluids and plugs. going to get the autolite copper cores. Should I get the 606's or 05's?

Also should I go full synthetic or not? About 175K miles and no leaks that I have ever seen. She doesn't appear to leak oil either.

I'd venture to guess you'd be able to get away with more pulley than that.

Until you get a pulley, 605's should be fine, a tad cold.

I'd run synthetic.

Its simply a better oil.

Get some when its on sale.

I got Amsoil. You can run it 15k miles and most of the time it will last beyond that. It cost about $75.00 for oil and filter shipped.

Talk to "TheOtherNick" about this. He sells it.

Because Mobil 1 is like 5k miles and that's almost a 50.00 every time you buy it and change it yourself. Why buy Mobil 3 times in 15k when you can save yourself $75.00 bux and buy it once for 15k miles worth of coverage.

I'll definitely talk to him about it. Got my ported SC from him. Thank you.

Go to walmart, 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 is 25 bucks. and whenever advance runs a sale it's usually like 28 for 5 quarts mobil 1 and a mobil 1 filter

I run rotella T full synthetic... I change it based on time not miles... I just change my oil every summer, I usually put 15-18k on it each year... Every time I have changed it... the dang oil is still somewhat clear looking...

The rotella T is a diesel oil designed for sustained high temperature.... It does scare me at low temperatures so I typically take it easy on cold oil temps, and get a very light 5w-40 viscosity.

Another cool thing with this rotella was my blown headgasket on my fiero this season... I dumped 2 quarts of coolant into my oil pan and drove around for probably 40 miles... flushed out the water, put more rotella back in, good as new!
