rear wheel stud-how to get it out and new installed?

so i had time over the weekend to try to get the bad wheel stud off from the rear passenger side. i had the wheel then the brake caliper off, but then i noticed the dust shroud was in the way, not to mention how do i even gain access to the wheel studs? looked like the spindle was covering everything to gain access to the wheel lugs. do i need to unbolt the trailing arm bolt and the 2 bolts that connect the spindle to the strut as well? i was under the impression once i get the brake calipers off and the dust shroud thats it, but apparently not :th_lipssealed2::th_scratchhead:

No you have to take the capiler bracket off and the the rotor and then you should be able to get to the studs.

the hub seems to be bolted to the spindle and the rear trailing arm. someone from the other forum said i can turn the hub with the bad stud towards the bottom where theres a hole that i can hammer the old one out and then use some sort of spacer to squeeze/manuer the new one in enough that i can get the lug nut and tighten it from there. anyone heard of this?

I am not 100% sure on the rear hub, although I did just change one out. But on the front, you do exactly as you said fst. You turn the hub until the stud lines up with a hole behind it. Then use a big hammer and pound the stud out. On the ones I have done, I used an old lugnut to pull the new stud through the hole. But it does mess up the lugnut a little. I would do it this way as I have tons of old lugnuts. But see if you can get in there and pound from the back, through the hole to seat the new lugnut.

yea i'll try that zef, thanks. luckily i pocketed a couple of lug nuts at the junkyard over the weekend w00t!!
