OK hello every1 when i go over big bumps my car ONLY on the RR the tire will hit the fenderwell and start to cut the tire. so tomarrow at school im doing rear shocks on my car. i got gabriel Gas ultra XX shocks. my question to every1 is how long does it take to replace the shocks? there anything else i have to replace that will get broken or anything in the process ??? thanks guys.

You may want to return those ''shocks''. We have struts on our cars. If you did not get the full assembly then you will only replace the strut and will have to reuse the spring on you're old strut. You will need a spring compressor.

im doin it at my college we have it all and yes sorry i ment struts h\im used to replacin our truck stuff lol soz i mean like is there anything common that breaks in the process of dissassembling that can become broken or damaged that i need to replace? how long does it usually take to do the rears? my teacher worked for Pontiac for 20 years so.... lol

BUMP BUMP i got class at 8 til 4 tomarrow im hopin some1 resonds back b4 i leave at 8 thanks every1 i just wanna no roughly how long u think itll take??? i got all the tools a shop can ask for and a knowledge packed instructor how long you think were talkin?

the rear's are a big PITA, cuz when you get to the top nuts, there isn't any room. Im sure you will see when you get to it.

You really don't break anything on removing them, unless they are rusted and something breaks cause of that, but for the part its an easy job. But like everyone else, the rears are a PITA for the simple fact that you need a midget to get into the trunk to reach the strut tower bolts. And you will need that midget to be in the truck when you install the new struts in there.

I always believed when you were replacing struts it is a wise move to go ahead and replace the strut mounts as well. Those take a good beating and if you are replacing them with new struts, you might as well go with new strut tower mounts as well.

But that is just me ;)

got her done yestruday guys it took id say 2 hours and yes i removed my audio stuff from the trunk and lets say the WAY WAY WAY BACK bolts on top sucked lol 2 out of 3 were easy lol overall got her done =]

I found a 1/2 inch drive socket that is deep enough to get on the top nuts, but short enough to get on that PITA back nut. Its about halfway between a deep well and a regular socket.

i had a simliar problem....i just used rubber coil boosters from advance auto..(5$ a piece) and it took care of my butt sagging and bottoming out in the rear my tires are now safe....these are not like the metal spacers people use...these actually allow the spring to still compress just not nearly as fast so they add firmness ive been quite pleased big bumps are not worry for me anymore
