rear hub replacement

I've had a low speed (like 0 to 10 mph) sort of growling noise for a long time, already replaced the front hubs (had play) and front/rear pads and rear rotors, noise still there. Now thinking it must the the rear hubs. I'm guessing they're more of a PITA than the front's due to having to deal with the parking brake cable. For anyone that's done this, how hard is it to detach/attach the cable, if that's even necessary?

With the wheel and brake calipers removed and turning by hand, the rear hubs don't make the same noise, but they do make some rubbing noise, but then that's with no load on them.

Did rear bearing on my 2008 last year e-brake did not have to be disconnected bearing not to bad to change had to heat the bolts holding the bearing on with a torch.Good luck
 
You don't need to disconnect the e-brake if you have rear disc. I would check to see if it's seized. Mine was, and the parking brake was stuck on. Burned the paint off one of the calipers pretty good.

The cables were bulged were it was stuck inside. Yours might need replacing too, and you're in there anyway..

I just took my cables off last night. There's a pic of what I did to take the driver's side off. Of course, photobucket's being idiotic right now.

EDIT: Here is the pic. The arrow points to the bracket the driver's side cable is through. The penetrating oil's splashed up on the rear of the gas tank.

The large threaded rod needs to come apart to fit back through the bracket. I just cut it where the red line is and saved the end piece. The new cable has the threaded length on it.

It's how mine looks anyway.

Thanks for replies, this definitely helps. My parking brake seems to work OK now, recently I had to adjust at the hubs since it wasn't holding at all, probably shoes worn down due to being driven with the brake on at some time in the past. One concern is whether it might be possible the p-brake itself is causing the growling noise somehow, maybe I should replace the shoes along with the hubs.
 
The park brake cable detaches right behind the backing plate which is held on to the knuckle by the same bolts that hold in the hub bearing.It's necessary to disconnect to get the backing plat separated from the hub bearing, not difficult tho.
