Rear Hub Assembly - How hard can it be?

Hi fellow W-body hoonigans!

I have a 2004 GP GT2 with 152K on the clock, and I started to hear the dreaded roar of a soon to be finished hub assembly. I went to my local, actually honest mechanic to give it a look see, and it turns out to be the left rear hub assembly. Problem is, I'm a broke college student, not ready to drop $200 on parts and labor. I am though perfectly capable of doing some work myself to save some cash. I replaced my shocks and struts last summer, so I'm not afraid to get greasy haha.

But, my question, how hard is it to replace one of these? I have an impact and torque wrench, among many other tools.
And, what's a good replacement hub? I've seen Moog and Timken, but I wanted YOUR opinion! (Hence this post)

Feel free to hit me with stories, suggestions and comments!
Thank you all, you're awesome!

If you can replace struts you can replace a rear hub. Find a hub thats made in the USA or just not china they have a high failure rate and you'll find yourself replacing it again later on.

SKF would be my choice with MOOG in 2nd and Timkins way back in 3rd.

But it's just taking off the tire, 2 bolts holding the caliper bracket remove rear rotor, remove bolts holding on the old hub, then remove hub which might take a little persuasion and repeat in reverse, it might take 30 minutes your first time if you don't have air tools.

On your 04, it's a walk in the park.
Pull wheel
Pull brakes
4 bolts.. hub it off

On the 97-03 or GXP brakes..it's deal with the dumb POS mother I hate it ebrake setup.

Thing that pisses me off is those two M6 screws in the back that hold the bracket. They are always fubared and dumb. If could be a 30 step process to take it apart and I'd be ok, but no..they put those things in there plus the brake that won't move enough to do any good.

I replaced my front hub and it was very simple. If you replaced your struts I reccommend doing it on your own
