• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Rear Head bolts

Well I'm having a tough time finding a 5.5 mm socket. I've got a few more places to call trying to find one. I tried the vice grip idea, and all that's going to do is strip it.

no put them down by the head on the unthreaded section tighten them down an turn them the stud should loosen right up an then spin out

After calling around to several shops, none of which had a 5.5 mm socket, my brother-in-law dug one out of his tool chest. I've got both heads off now, and they're off to the machine shop to get the valves re-done.

I think I'm going to replace the water pump, while I have it torn down.

Well the 5.5 mm socket worked. Thanks guys! Now that I have everything torn down, I'm contemplating replacing the lifters. I've checked them out and they all appear to be in good shape. Is it worth the $100 to replace the lifters? I have 131K miles on the engine.

Hahaha u have no idea! I have more tools available to me than u can possibly imagine! i could have found that socket if i needed it but i didnt because vicegrips do the job just as well when used properly

Well then you are a dumbass. If you have the right tool use it. :th_shakinghead2:

yeah, it would be worth your while if you plan on keeping the car for sometime longer. If you do decide get acdelco Ls7 lifters from paceperformance, they have the best price hands down.
