Don't know about the VR1, but the last Valvoline conventional oil I ran in my original motor of the Accord didn't turn out good. Two weeks after the oil change, it destroyed a connect rod bearing. Last time I used Valvoline. It was on sale and my friend thinks I got a bad batch. They make excellent brake clean, I buy it directly from a distributor.
