Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Plastidip

Finally broke down and ordered SD Headers should be here in 2-6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Plastidip

Fact is I just don't see many comps on the road. The 04s are kinda special because the eariler models only had the chrome spoke rims. The red cailpers are the real give away along with the comp badges on the trunk. 05s have the badges on the front 1/4 panels. Also the tap shifters on the steering wheel are a sure sign of the comp package. everthing else is pretty much mechanical related. different gearing, special struts, sway bar upgrade. aluminum subframe.

Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Plastidip

I know and understand all of that...all of those things I have not changed still has all the comp g things that came with the car other then the wheels...previous owner changed the wheels...understand what you are getting at just don't understand how it applies to me and my car

Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Headers

I've got a 05, no front badges.. but also no ugly trunk keyholes like 04's.. does that make me special?? :D

Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Headers

Yeah the tubing and flanges are pretty thick polished surface is overall pretty good...stock mani's are a pain to get off so far

Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Headers

When you finish installing and before you start the car up, please clean them with brake cleaner or something. All the oils and crap from your hands will burn into the headers and they will look like trash forever. Atleast by cleaning them, they will look good for about 8-12 months. After a week or so of being gold, they will turn rainbow at the elbows on each front pipe.

I will do that man thanx for the heads up...I still need to stop by napa and get some better clamps...then install will begin tomorow

Re: (wa04compg) 2004 Comp G: Operation Headers

I bought the hd headers like yourself. My install will happen sometime in July. They do look real nice but I have read some threads where the only knock on these headers is the flex pipe on em. So I removed the stock one. And welded another one from zzp in its place. I guess only time will tell if I made the right choice.

I did the 3in ZZP flex before I installed mine. Gone over a year with a full winter with no problems.
