rattling rear end of 97 GT

mine does the same thing. im pretty sure the shocks are trashed. im puting adjustable shocks in it from the wbodystore
 


I have a '99 grand prix with about the same problem by the sound of it. When going over a bump, something rattles near the back of the car. I haven't been able to find the cause either.
 
last resorts here lol have you guys tried to see if the muffler brackets are all on and the exhaust is tight, not bouncing around, or maybe a heat shield somewhere is loose? or the bumper covers maybe loose...
 
bumper cover was loose, taped that with double sided 3m, but that didn't fix it. How loose is the exhaust supposed to be? It appears that the supports are still good, but I could move it vertically a bit. And I didn't see any heat shields any where.
 
its supposed to move some, thats why there are the rubber bands that it hangs from, sometimes they tear or break and stuff moves a lot more than you would like.

use the palm of your hand and hit it,(muffler) see if it makes noise when bounced around.

i had a the worst rattle on my last truck, and the bumper cover was the cause, i went nuts trying to find this rattle, found it while washing the truck.
