Random Spark/Electrical issue

Hi I'm looking for some insight on to a completely random issue I just had. So I replaced the plugs and wires, both belts, lower engine mount, a tensioner pulley, and an idle pulley on my 99 GTP. About a week ago on my way to Oreilly's, my car randomly dies. I still had power, just wasn't running. When I pulled over the car would turn over for days, but wouldn't start. We checked all the connections with the coil packs and plugs and they checked out, then took a plug out and checked for spark...no spark. Did some research and it sounded like either the ICM, or the crank position sensor. I wasn't sure where to start, so I disconnected the battery and reset the PCM hoping for a one time start with no such luck. After 2 days of sitting with no power, I did get it to fire, but it died about 4 seconds later after running rough like the timing was off. The ICM had power to it, so I went the cheaper route and ordered a crank position sensor which arrived today. For the sake of trying, I went to start the car and it fires right up and drives 20 miles with no issues. With multiple restarts successful, I am completely baffled as to what could have cause the issue.

That is pretty typical of a CKPS (CranK Position Sensor, CPS is Camshaft Position Sensor :th_winking:).

I would also check the ICM connector to ensure it's not loose. Check the connection at the PCM for looseness as well.

thank you! i'm replacing the sensor tomorrow but still haven't duplicated the problem. i'm also getting a weird issues where my DIC and HVAC blink with my blinker, but I think it's time to get rid of the car sadly.

Or fix the ground issue. Both will take a couple hours.

Sell car ... couple hours, pay on new one
Fix ground..couple hours.

CKPS changed and fixed the exploded resonator while i was at it and oh my.....it's like driving a different car! i'm a terrible wire chaser and have no idea how to go about it, so chances are it may get sold lol
