• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Random question

LS1's fit, so a 5.3 would probably fit.

Sweet jesus.... it does exist..... How much work do you think it takes to get that kind of job done? Not talking an LS1, but a 5.3?

There was over $20k and a few years of work invested in that LS1 attempt... and it only made 300 Peak HP on the dyno.

You're looking at a huge chunk of money to make something like that work, and may suffer a huge disappointment like they did.

I was just wondering if you could put the 5.3 in since it can fit in the body of the 04+. Not a freaking LS1 lol. Leave the LS1 to the Trans Ams.

I think it would be easier and a whooole lot cheaper if you did a body swap I have seen a older style Lumina body fabricated to a Trans am Frame I am sure you could get a door GT on the frame of a TA and if you went that way you know it will run like a raped ape! hmmm got a TA in the Garage Maybe I should give this a try lol

well for the most part it should just drop in. the tranny is the same, 3 things i can think of that would be a possible problem is hood clearance, ECM/TCM mounting, and if there is enough space to clear the flywheel.

So you could just keep the same tranny in? Even with an extra 100 hp being added to it? Doesnt seem right. But im sure I could make it fit :th_jester:.

This question was just really bugging me though, kept wondering and wondering if you could do it without having to do some year long job.

the 05s subframes bolt right up to 97s+ so the LS4 will bolt right in with the appropiate subframe, the motor sits farther back towards the firewall.

the hard thing would be to splice the harnesses so everything gets along nicely.

i know this because a guy is attempting this a couple of blocks away from me :)

That V8 is junk.

I'd snail a L36/26/32/67 tons before I'd even ATTEMPT to put a V8 in there. The only thing you'd have going for you is a better exhaust note.

i dont think the engine is junk here is a thread with some info, sounds like you could put a cam in one with some work although i would not swap one if i had a 3800 already.
