Radio problems (audio/display)

This is an '04 Grand Prix GT.

My radio display is showing gibberish. It works as expected for ~2-3 minutes after turning the car on, then it starts to look like this image. This problem started somewhat recently. Any thoughts?

Also, my tape sound quality is absolutely terrible no matter what I set the equalizer to. I use a tape adapter to listen to my music through the car, and this adapter works perfectly in other cars. Other adapters have the same problem in my car. The display does say CLEAN PLAYR when first using the tape player, but a $15 tape player cleaner from RadioShack didn't do anything (same problems, same message on the display). Any suggestions for fixes?

Thanks guys!

Hold the tape eject button for a couple seconds and the "clean player" message will go away.

Does the radio respond to inputs normally when the screen is all messed up like that?

I normally do this anyway--the tape icon flashes. It's a way to force the system to recognize that it's an electronic tape, not a normal one. This method hasn't fixed it yet, unless you mean to just keep holding it for a long while. (I haven't actively tried to use this to make it disappear, I just know that I've done this several times and the message still appears.)

Everything on the radio/tape player/CD player works as expected, it's only the display that's messed up. My aux power fuse was blown, so while I had the fuseboxes open today I checked the display fuses and everything was fine. My dad knows cars and he said that the aux power fuse may somehow fix the display, but I personally doubt that it'll do anything. I'll be driving it long-distance tomorrow, so I can report back then with regard to this in particular.

In my car's manual it says to hold the eject button to clear the message. It will return after 50 hours of play.

It just sounds like the screen maybe messed up. It isn't tough to replace it. These radios come apart really easy.
