Radio display bulb-please help!!

I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT with a burnt out radio display bulb. After reading all of the helpful posts about replacing the bulb I decided to give it a shot. I went to the dealer and paid the $10 for an OEM bulb so there wouldnt be any issue. It was an exact match and it looked perfect. I just finished installing the new bulb, one turn with a flathead screwdriver and it fit nice and snug just like the burnt one. I popped the faceplate back on and connected the radio back up to the harnesses and radio antenna. Started the car up and the display STILL doesnt light up! The radio sounded clear just like it did before but still no display. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

The board could be fried or there is a component or connection that is fried. Perhaps even the LCD is not functioning correctly. Take it to an electronics repair shop and see what they say.

OK.. I just replaced my bulb too. Did not buy the GM one but soldered in my own.

Anyway, can you still see the LCD display when the radio, or car is on?

What I mean is, the bulb is the backlight to the LCD. When mine was burnt out, you could still faintly see the LCD.

You can also take a 9 volt battery to the new bulb to make sure it is indeed good!

Also, make sure the two metal tabs on the new bulb are tight against the solder pads. You could even remove the bulb and bend them down ever so slightly, to make sure they are tight against the solder pads.

Also, check the white ribbon cable of wires going to that board. Make sure either end is not slightly out of the holders. Make sure they did not get cut on the radio metal case too, possibly from moving them outward to do the job.

After looking at the radio more closely, I realized one of the boards has a burn mark on it so i'm just gonna put an aftermarket unit in. Thanks for all the help guys!
