Rack and Pinion Replacement Dilemma

Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3800 Series 3.

The car was bought used, needs a new steering rack (severe leak). A Magnasteer unit is on it right now, but discovered that it was disconnected and tied off with a rubber cover on the plug (rack side). The Service Parts sticker has a Non-Magnasteer unit (N40) listed. Don't know which unit was original to this car.

The dilemma is, do I replace it with a Magnasteer or Non-Magnasteer (N40) unit? Need your opinions. Thanks.

is there the plug on the car for the magnasteer? or just on the rack if it just on the rack i would go without the magnasteer because its would be cheaper

I found what I believe to be the plug in the wiring harness for the magnasteer. The Magnasteer is a little cheaper than the non-magnasteer. At least from NAPA anyway. Not sure why. A couple things I noticed on the non-magnasteer rack (N40) were that it's a little longer and the input shaft is 3/4" longer. Also not sure if the protective boot fits both racks the same.
