its basic forced induction knowledge you are making more boost with no way to get it out of the engine fast enough, and not supplying enough fuel. its not rocket science
 


The a/t Acura CL-S "stock" puts out roughly 200whp and 190wtq give or take a couple based on the specific car. 1/4 mile is roughly 14.2-14.5 @ 100mph in 65* weather. Headers are dyno proven to free up 20-25whp and makes the car WAY faster. A/T looses 20-25% of its HP:th_shakinghead1:

Better hope you don't line up against a 6-speed CL-S. They are slightly lighter and have 18-20 more whp.

Stock for stock as CL-S will beat a GTP. Add headers and then its even worse. Sounds like qwikgt knows his **** son:th_thumb-up:

my bad that was with headers....had two links open. Stock with an average driver it will run 14.6-14.8 @ 97mph. However there has been one guy who did run 14.2 @ 100mph bone stock...dunno how he did it with an auto

For a 04 GTP comp G stock I've read 14.8-15.1 @ 90-92mph

GM needs to quit jacking around and tune their ecu's. 3.8L supercharged should be outperforming a 3.2 n/a no problem

i was comparing my gtp to a CL with intake also. pretty much same mods. idk if you want to count my plug wires as mods?? and we had the same time. thats what i was getting mine from..

yes the cl does trap higher. hence it would get the gtp in a highway roll. but i think the gtp would pull it down low. pretty much in a 1/4 its a drivers race.
 


yea...thats what I was trying to get at. It's a drivers race 1/4 and the CL-S takes it from a roll. Was just trying to prove the haters wrong.

What would need to be done to a GTP to make it a \14 second flat car? Thats what my CL-S should be at when I get my intake and pulley...already got the headers
 
i never hated on ya bro... i just gave a sarcastic remark that i would take u on any day lol and we would prolly be fender to fender from what im seeing in these specs... with that said my gtp costs a hell of a lot less than your acura so horsepower to cash flow ratio mines better lol ;)
 
no offence but you were being a hater to the gtp. you said it WOULD NO MATTER WHAT beat a gtp. not nessicerly true. i see where your coming from but you bashed on the gtp the whole time-whos the hatter??? its all good and everything but you kinda started the hating.

14.0 flat could probew been done with headers, intake and tune. considering you can get it out the hole good.
 
ok here im going to settle the debate. the GTP is more torquey than the CL so it will beat it out of the hole. on the top end the GTP's weak cam profile will limit it on the topend. the acura has a OHC which will not have as much torque down low but combined with VTEC will scream up top. if you have ever been in a vtec car it will scream from 4000-6500rpm like nothing. so a comp G and the CL from a roll like this thread started the honda wins hands down. only thing was 02cl didnt downshift and get the jump on the comp G
 


I wasn't being a hater towards you guys. More so going back to the posts where everyone was saying it had to be a non-supercharged modded gt. And also that a GTP would kill it from a dig. I also have been reading though a lot of the other kill stories such as the skyline thread...just trying to get my point across that not all jap cars are crap. People say the same **** on import forums. I'm not a fanboy though...

I think I got a pretty good deal on the CL-S. $9,500 loaded minus NAVI. I regret not spending more on a 6-speed:th_angry2:

BTW, wtf is up with GM not supporting a manual tranny?
 
ive seen a gtp before with a manual trans... possibly out of a camaro.whatever it was im sure it took alot of work to get it manual....
i paid 7500 for my gtp with every option available from a military dude that was goin tdy
 
I actually paid $8,500 after trade in.

My friend bought a modded black 01 GTP with tint, full 3.5" exhaust, pulley, and icebox intake for $4,000 at an auction...dealership didn't want it cause it was modded. That was a steal
 
damn right it was i paid 4500 for a 97 gt a few years ago...over 200,000 miles and it still cranks right up and will run pretty good for bein completely stock.been sittin in the back yard for over a year now she looks sad :D
 
I can remember racing a few of those CL Type S w/ my car when it had 3.4", CAI, DP, PCM and I had no problems with them. High 14-Low 15 sec car with an average driver, so what?

As for GTP not making a realible daily driver... I got one and i'd put it up against anything. Its got 160,000 miles, stock long block. Was street raced hard every weekend for nearly 2 years, no problems, no break downs. Holds perfect Comp in all cylinders and doesn't use a drop of oil. I never even blew a tranny in the damn thing! My stock 155,000 mile tranny is in my shed in good working order (I wanted better gearing and a stall so installed that in a built tranny). I can drive my car any where and everywhere and not worry about making it where I need to go. And I can look good doing it as well.

Besides my car, I know another guy with a GTP w/ a few bolt ons @ 240,000 miles and it runs like new and the only major break down was a tranny.

So don't give me this jap car is better bull****, I know of many ****ty jap cars out there and i've made fun of those guys because i've had great success with my Pontiac.

My advice, go join a jap car R us forum and talk about how great they are there. I don't want to hear it over here. I support my country, I buy american. When I decide to support japan, i'll go buy a jap car. Simple as that....

I'll take my CL over your Pontiac any day even if it is slower....do you have heated mirrors, mirrors that automatically adjust when in reverse, auto dimm rear view, quality preforated heated seats, auto climate, all aluminum block, xenon headlights, nice looking gauges, wheel locks, 20mpg/28mpg, coupe, 6-disc cd changer, bose, triptronic 5-speed, variable valve timing, 260hp stock....no :th_laugh-lol3:

You have an interior that looks like it was made for a 5-year old with big ass buttons and cheap plastic trim everywhere

CL is right you know the quality of the acura goes far beyond the GTP:th_biggrin2:
