R1 Brakes,FE4 Suspension?

Hey guys i see alot of useful information regarding chassis upgrades but i have a few questions im a newbie so please bear with me... im in the market of replacing my chassis parts brakes,suspension ,trailing arms,sways etc and wanted to know how are u guys drilled slotted rotors holding up? i was thinking of grabbing R1 eline series anybody have any experience with those? As far as suspension sways and trailing arms i have FE4 suspension from a 2007 monte carlo SS with front dual piston calipers would that being a direct bolt in? Thanks again guys
 


search stickies above and IIRC 07 montes dont have fe4 suspension and you need to specify what type of vehicle you already have
 
They dont? Idk but i think its FE3 or FE4 but i have a 2001 Pontiac Grand prix GTP and i'll check out the stickies thanks
 
The 07 MC SS uses the FE2 and FE4 suspension trailing arms, I checked. Basically any upgrade from the stock is good, just make sure its a tubular design, if its the C channel type its just as weak as factory and should be upgraded. You can bend the factory one over a knee its so weak, tubular is the only way to go.

GMPP, UMI, ZZP, etc... make sure its tubular and within budget and you should be good.


As far as the rotors, I have been running the R1 Elines front and rear D/S. They look nice, but useful not very much. I wanted the look without breaking the bank and when I upgrade will consider the Premium line as they are slightly better. But the Elines work very well and I love mine, have heard some horror stories but its all hit and miss with some parts.
Most people will recommend blank rotors as they give a little more bite and don't eat up the pads as fast, but its really up to you. Just get some good pads to go with them and you should be good to go. Make sure you measure your rotors and compare to get the right ones, if you have the 07 MC SS dual calipers it should be using a 12" rotor, not the factory GP 11". So be certain.
 
haz eline slotted. slots make a noise when you brake. drilled holes and slots are for show only. theyre fine. acdelco has some nice rotors that are about as much, but are actually painted vs zinc coated.

brakes from 06+ impalas/monte's are bolt-on provided u get the proper rotors, which are iirc f-body/06+ fronts. get stainless steel lines if youre at it.
 


I have the Fbody upgrade and bought R1 Concepts Eline D/S rotors and their scorched pads. They have been on for about 33 months and 53K miles. I am impressed with their lack of rust. They are on my daily driver Regal and I beat the car constantly. They refuse to warp, they don't have much if any fade. Overall I have trouble believing they've lasted me this long and look as good as they do.

One down side, they are getting very light very short cracks by the holes. It's not apparent until you put them under a microscope and they don't appear to have any negative issues from the cracks.

When I buy from them again, I'll go with their eline and maybe the slotted only. In reality for DD, drilled are not needed or useful.
 
I've had R/1 drilled/slotted rotors and pads for almost 4 years and 50k miles... The brakes are still going to this day and the pads still have life in them.

my slots are having cracks after 3 years. plain e-lines last too, my buddy has some on his scoob.
