Quick Strut and other questions

I think for the $$ and all the stuff I've read, I'm gonna go with the KYB's. I did the lower control arms and front stabilizer links a few weeks ago. Here's my dirt from Rock Auto:

As far as the Monroe quick strut monster truck issue, the springs won't settle. Lol trust me. I had them in my 90 Bonneville and I ended up having to cut them...twice, just to get it to sit at the STOCK level. So I'd stay away from those if I were you.

I think the key is to reuse the factory springs that have already settled. In the front that is. The rear springs seem to pretty much just give up so I'd replace those..

FWIW I put Monroes on the rear of my car and it never stayed 4x4, it settled good with my subs and tools in it.

The point to quick struts is not having to disassemble anything. They are direct bolt in.......

This is true. While it is about twice as easy the end result is twice as ugly. So pick your poison I guess. I'm just a stickler about the back end of cars sitting lower than the front. It's just wrong. Id choose the extra work over having the stance of a late 90's Taurus....

The springs will settle they take a few thousand miles tho. After iv had springs break and destroy tires on multiple GPs I would never reuse springs with a lot of miles on them. If you are that concered about ride height lower the car and be done with it but the springs will still ride high untill they settle.

But back to the real issue, Monroe's ride pretty good. The whole sensa-track thing seems to really work. I bought some cheaper ones for an h body once and the piston was noticeably smaller in diameter. So I should have known better that they would feel like crap. My gp has kyb excel I think? The non adjustable ones, with zzp springs and it rides hilariously bad. I'm in love with the koni's on my dads camaro so I'm gonna get bilsteins here soon hopefully

What is the rule on springs anyway? I'm doing my struts myself, in my driveway with no way really to stop in the middle of what I'm doing and run to the parts store if I need anything, so I ordered everything I think I'm going to need. The rears are KYB quick struts with springs, but the fronts I'll have to compress and set up. I did order new front springs but I see where some people recommend replacing them and some don't. How do you figure out if you need to replace them or not?

I know this an old thread but i did manage to find front quick struts for 04-08. Its monroe #172177. Hopefully I'll be happy with the ride comfort of these, because I've always had a lack of motivation/ laziness these are perfect. :)
