• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Quick question (water pump)

im having a little problem with my 97 gtp it seems i have no coolant going to either one of my hoses neither upper or lower and when i hit the throttle the lower hose collapse's .... i changed thermostat and flushed radiator and i know radiator is not clogged cause during flush water came out both ends .... now when i drive the car stays at about 180* but as soon as i stop it climbs up to about 240* almost in the red zone ... could this be a bad waterpump ?

thank you ahead of time for your answers

sorry im just trying to figure out what i need to get for tomorrow i only get 1 day off a month and tomorrow is it ... and i need to get this problem fixed since this is my daily driver .... i didnt mean to be jumpy

Wow I thought forums were to help each other not critisize each other..... Sorry if I only waited an hour and sorry I double posted... If you didn't notice I am new and wasn't sure where to post that question so I posted it in the 2 most appropriate places... I guess this forum isn't what its all cracked out to be maybe I should find one with people who actually can help people other than critisize them..... So on that note thanks for nothing but critisism and wasteing my time

We're not criticizing you. Our job as a community, mine in particular as an Admin is to make sure things run smoothly so that everyone can get help. Part of that comes from the rules that govern the site and you'll find those rules in nearly every forum you participate in, we are not unique in that regard.

You have to keep in mind that every one here participates as volunteers I guess you would say, giving of their time and expertise. We make NO guarantees to response times. Furthermore, if you had not double posted you would have possibly seen that I replied to one of your posts, but you were watching this thread and thats why we have rules like no double posting. It makes it confusing which thread to respond to and makes it difficult for you to track the replies.

Im sorry you feel you were being criticised, but I assure you that was not the case. Im sorry you feel you have to vacate the community because someone points out mistakes made but then again if this your normal response to things it may be the best action to take.

Yea I understand that I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but the last forum I joined was a bmw m3 forum and I had response's immediately. I do understand your point though and I appologize for sounding like a jerk. I just needed some info rather quickly and kinda expected it. So I usually am not this way I just barely have time for anything so once again I appologize

No problem at all and thank you for posting that. You are welcome here. Ive never been on or visited the M3 forums but if you got near instant replies, thats really good but is by no means the norm as automotive forums go. I belong to a software forum that has over 700,000 registered members and nearly 70,000 of them are active and I still dont get anywhere near that kind of response to any questions I post there.

We are a little slow at times perhaps be we make up for it in the quality of responses you get and the community help and friendship you will find here. Its a fairly tight knit group, something you dont always find on larger forums.

yea i appreciate your understanding and on that note i found my problem it is not the water pump i have a crack in that plastic elbow that goes from the water pump to the head ... now does anybody know how that peice comes out so that i can replace it (i will wait for an answer this time .. lol)

That really is weird. Maybe one of our admins changed the rules and now you have to be a member.

Well, if you want to register we have a how to on replacing the coolant elbows.

I just looked at the write-up and I'm not so sure about it.

Basically
Move the coolant overflow bottle out of the way
Remove the s/c and serpintine belts.
remove the alternator
remove the alternator bracket (bracket doubles as coolant passage way)
replace both elbows
clean the holes the elbows came out of.
Put vaseline on the elbow orings insert each into the alternator bracket
Reverse the process.
ZZ Performance.
get both elbows

Anything more specific, please ask.

Yes, the '97's only have one elbow. I found out the hard way by looking for the second one for about an hour before reading up.
