I've tried to find out for quite some time with no luck. I am looking do do a quick and cheap air intake fix (there is an open hole on the hose where apparently another one of these parts is supposed to go, and the lip/connector to the throttle body is cracked). I can't seem to find a replacement intake tube anywhere so I have to go the aftermarket route.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

That's an air tube herpe. Otherwise known as a baffle etc. It's sole job TMK is to keep the intake noise quiet.

So it's not really needed? I assume that's why I don't see it on aftermarket or user-made intakes.

Not sure if an aftermarket intake would fix my throttle body lip problem though. If they connect directly to the throttle body then it would, but if not I'm stuck.
 


The reason you rarely see it is
1. Most got rid of it.
2. 99-03 got a different accordian that was much less restrictive than the one you have there.
