questions on pcm for new l67

Okay so I’m pretty new to the grand prix and 3800 world and the world of pcm tuning. I’ve got a 2000 gtp body but I’m putting a 99 supercharged 3800 in it this weekend. I’m putting headers, HAI, 180 thermostat, 104 autolightes, spark plugs wires, a 3.4 pulley, and a 3.29 built Trans. My question is can I use my old pcm, that was tuned for the 3.4 pulley and Trans before I got the car, and if I can use it how long will it last? Also should I just order one from overkill or is there someone in Grand Rapids anyone knows that’s good with this stuff or something else?

You can use the old PCM, but with a trans that has a 3.29 ratio, you'll be banging off the rev limiter unless you change that in the trans settings.

It was tuned for the transmission before but I were bouncing off the rev limiter all the time, is there any way to change the Trans setting without a complete tune. And it’s not tuned for the headers and HAI I don’t know if that makes a difference or not. Also the old motor blew up with the last computer and I think it had something to do with that or the crap tone of miles and no really flow mods.

How did it blow? Chipped piston? rod knock? You'd be better off taking the car and getting it tuned.

Go buy a DHP PCM.

Tell 3800 Performance you want the GT trans settings in the PCM.

Done.

Also, if it was bouncing off the rev limiter, then it WASN'T correctly tuned.

Yeah I don’t think it was correctly tuned and no compression in piston third and messed up the heads and stuff. And I was wondering if it makes any difference that it came out of a Buick regal?

mileage wasn't a factor in that motor blowing up it was not enough flow mods. I have 210K on mine with no problems.
