Question:

qksilver

Hello all Iam new to this forum stuff, but I do have a question. I have had my gp for about 6 months now, really like the car. I am however experienceing some, I would say sputtering or even a misfire at around 25mph and rolling into boost. This started after having plugs installed the gap is .60 thats what the dealership recommended. I am not a tech nor do I claim to be just a guy needing some info from some more experinced people. Any help is appreciated.:)

Does the sputtering go away? I normally gap mine at .55. Did you replace your wires as well? Did you disconnect any vaccum lines when you did the plug install?

Good to see another Oklahoma Member!

Yes the sputtering goes away after just a bit. I dont know if any vacuum lines were disconnected as I was not the one who installed them, the engine for life warranty I have prohibits me from doing any" engine work" that includes putting spark plugs in lol! No I dont have any plug wires installed. I didnt even know there were any other gtps in ok lol, yeah Im not alone!

Does it throw a CEL?

Of course theres more GP's in oklahoma about 10 of us all together that visit this board.

No it does not throw and cels! Weird! I thought maybe it was bad gas so I switched were I was getting it and nothing changed and yes I only use 91 oct. Got me puzzled!

i had a similiar problem but it wasnt persistent and mine threw a code but went away on its own it would drive fine then all the sudden would bog down below 1000 rpms and sounded the the engine was trying to save its self, got some security screw tools and cleaned the maf with electrical contact cleaner (radio shack) and been runnin like a champ so far

Thanks guys! Blue its an 02, I will start by cleaning the MAF. I dont have a ton of time to work on it and I have to drive it every day I own a business that requires me to drive alot, 250 miles a day and its been raining like non stop so as soon as I do this I will post and let you guys know what happened, thanks again. WOW run on sentence lol!

Just wondering the year because the '04+ cars had issues with dying and misfires due to the dirty TB in the DBW system.

Ok tried the MAF cleaner worked real good could tell a difference but did not get rid of the "gulping, sputtering" around 25mph when rolling into boost! Got some TB cleaner but read on the back its not for SC cars. What do you guys use to clean the TB??
Still was able to pull on a 95 mustang gt though lol! But I would like this issue resolved! Any input is appreciated thanks:th_winking:

Probably a vacuum leak then. Check all the rubber "T" fittings around the blower/lower intake. Most likely dry rotted and starting to leak.
