Question: Tranny Torque Converter lock/unlock issue

I read Trannyman's description to the problem and have determined that I need to get a new tranny...but my question is this.

For those who have experienced this issue, how long until it takes a dump?

I got 130k on this tranny, reguarly maintenance.... just want to know what to expect.

I cant afford a 1400 tranny from tranny man, so I am going to Ed and getting a 600 dollar replacement. Tranny removal/tips is appreciated.

mine went out in about 10k miles after it started doing this. still does it with my tranny, too.

drop the cradle and disconnect the steering rack. the drop the transmission. dont lose any bolts.
 
Mine went out about 1000 miles after it started. Just lost all gears.
