Question on intake and EGR

A mechanic told me that my intake needs to be removed and cleaned on the inside along with the EGR valve.
It seems to run ok until you start to climb a hill then it starts to misfire.
Anyone else ever heard of this or have had this problem or is the mechanic blowing smoke?:th_sick2:

Is it just when you climb a hill or is it at a certain RPM? If it's a a certain mid point RPM it sounds like your coil packs.

The EGR has nothing to do with the car misfiring. But tell him to go ahead and do that for you but be sure to tell him if it does not fix the problem that your not going to pay him for the work performed. I'd also get that in writing.

It seems to misfire when climbing a hill. You can give it some gas and it seens to clear up and go on. At a stady speed I can't detect any misfire, only when it gets under a load going up hill.
The check engine light is on and it shows a multiple cylinder misfire.
