I was just wondering if you can put a series 3 throttle body(which has a different mass air flow sensor) on a series 2 engine? It looks to fit perfect but i dont know if there was a significant difference? Or can i just swap them out?

Nope.

Sorta.

97-98 TB's are different than 99-03.

how so? because i got a differant throttle body with my gen 5 not the one that was on there i was told it was a N* but im not sure

is the 97-98 cast aluminum and 99-03 plastic?

this is the one my gen 5 came with (not the best pic but its the only one i have right now)

i know i missing a few pieces i have to order them from zzp but i got a good deal on this blower and he threw in the N* for free he didn't say it was a complete set up i got it from my friend
i have the bolts, vac tree, and BBV i have to order the adapter plate for the N8 and whatever else i need, do you know what else i need?

I think you'll have to swap the LIM as well. Not 100% sure on that one. You'd also need the N* adapter plate, the TPS and MAf adapters along with a LQ4 maf.

Jfonger: to answer your question. A 97/98 is a Series II, as is a 99-03 (still Series II). The picture of the TB on the Gen V is a Drive By Wire. The bolt patterns are different and you can not put a 04+ Series III TB on a Series II SC. The possibly confusing part is the Series II motor has a Gen 3 M90 SC on it. There are adapter plates to go from Gen V SC (Series III motor) to a 97-03 TB or Northstar TB.

Eddie: there is no outward visible difference in the 97/98 vs 00-03 TB. The difference is inside when you look at the maf. 97/98 have a post with the maf in it, 99-03 have no post but the maf has a partial post molded into the plastic of it's body. PS beware which adapter you get. That looks like an old N*

thanks Bill and yea i think it is an old N*, which adapter do you think i should get to run this?

Ed...I dunno which adapter fits it. Almost looks like someone drilled a hole in the center of the top for the normal N* adapter.

I've never used a true Gen V LIM on any of my vehicles. I always cut the L67. It's 3/4" and you're there.

do you's think i should try its? and Bill i plan on cutting my L67 LIM i think that will be better to help me save $$
