Question - Fuse blows on insertion

Hi there, I am new to this forum and I am hoping someone can give me some ideas as to how to fix this issue. I have a 2001 Grand Prix 3100 V6. I would like to use my auxillary power outlet in order to charge my phone/ipod. It uses a 15 amp mini fuse. When I go to replace the fuse, it sparks and shorts out the fuse.
Any ideas on what to do? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Thanks! My next question is how do you remove the panel? I can remove the ashtray to search that one, but the auxillary power outlet I am not sure how to remove it. I did figure it was a short, but just wanted to ask the experts! :D

The dealer uses a special tool, it has little rabbit ears on it that spread out, and help pull that thing out.

You can use a screwdriver, it you are really careful, and keep prying away at the thing, it will come out.

Worst case, you break the little plastic clips off the end, and need a new one.
