question about stock mufflers

so im planning on getting borla pro xs mufflers and one of my friends drilled out their stock mufflers so they were louder. since im getting new ones i was wondering...if i did that would it hurt my engine any? and what other concequences would there be? if anyone can give me some insight it would be greatly appreciated

Basicly all a mufler contins to ''muffle the sound is internal baffling. Drilling a hole straight through it would elimate it having to go through the baffling.

It will basicly be like having straight pipes. Wich would sound like poo on our cars.

It won't hurt you're engine and you won't notice any performance. And may even get a little rattling from all the metal peices that are in the muffle from drilling it out.

I was gonna just basically poke holes near the front of the muffler so as to avoid that problem if they were small just enough to make it louder it should be fine right?

it will make it a little louder, but why be ricer like that? if you really want just louder mufflers go to autozone and pick up some cherry bombs for like $17 a piece.

i like my quiet stock mufflers. if i could make it even quieter i would. whine only, please.

so i went ahead and did it. results are very good. rumbley and deep without any popping sounds i am very pleased. all i did was drill three 5/16th inch holes in a triangle about 3/4ths inchaway from each other and about three or four inches forward from where it enters the muffler on each side. sounds bad@$$
