QUESTION about FIRST START UP

they looked at it tonight my dad an my dads buddy found out the issue i believe 99% i think so.. the oil pickup tube assembly well first off 1 bolt snapped in half when whoever tightened it wasnt me i swear to god. anywayz yeah the tapping noise was the tube hitting agains the crank cap has a TINY TINY dent in it no big deal easy outed the broken bolt went to ace got a new bolt almost exact oem. but yeah they called it a night cuz of they repolaced my dads fuel filter n stuff. anywayz tomarrow night friday should be THE night =] if it isnt the problem im going to cry LOL
 


But you guys did a complete rebuild of your engine. Did you take the block anywhere to get it hot tanked and parts cleaned up?
 
wait, you were running the motor with low oil pressure from the pickup tube not being attached correctly? oh. my. god.
 


i ran my motor for less than a minute total with no oil pressure and my bearing spun 3 days later after i fixed my problem. have fun with another rebuild if you seriously ran it with low oil pressure.

I think he said in the first post that the oil pick up tube was loose and banging around and Im sure the low oil light must have come on since their would be 0 oil pressure. Sucks if you have to tear it all down again. This is why you check and check again and again before you put the oil pan back on. Whoever broke that bolt and left it should not be working on cars.
 
AGREED GRRRRR WE SHALL C i think it will be ok though my dad over exaggerated and said it ran for like 5 minutes and it knocked for like 20 seconds then they shut it off and there were no gauges lit up...... ? we will see soon enough
 
the low oil pressure light only comes on below 5 psi. Sometimes it doesn't come on till the motor is done.
 
nah we postponed to 6am toamrrow lol but i gotta go to work at 8 30 to 3 so yeah i wont be there probably unless we throw pan and tube and belts on asap lol. maybe maybe not who knows. =]
