question about fading dash

I have an 01 gtp and the dash started fading about a year ago. Since then it has become really bad looking and just needs something done about it. My question is has anyone ever heard of painting a dash? Ive seen the pictures of people that spray paint their vents and door panels but I feel like thats kind of flashy. I was thinking maybe taking out dash and having my friend who does paint work try using vinyl paint. Any ideas, or suggestions?

I do believe that you can get factory colored spray paint from any parts store that you can use to redo it.
