Question about air intake installation

I have a 97 GTP. Today I got my air intake. When I removed the stock air filter I noticed a metal box with may wires comingout that said Delco Electronics, inside the black plastic enclosure where the stock air filter is. In order to install the new intake I had to remove the plastic enclorure so the metal box is now in the open.

My questions are: What is that box and where can I put it to keep it safe?

Here is an actual pic of my car with the new filter and the Delco box in the right.

Thanks a lot

that box is your pcm (cars computer)

alot of guys just leave it laying there and say its fine, but i wouldnt do this, in my mind its to crucial of a component to be lef laying around.

some guys have used zip ties to hold it in place. I believe i heard that chevy s10s have a tray for it that is a perfect match for our cars, you could probably find one at a junkyard for cheap.

You can leave the PCM where you have it, but it would be much better if you could get it bolted in there someway so it doesn't bounce around.
