I've got a 99 GTP and am looking for the best headlights I can get while avoiding an HID install.

I've get some xenons in right now, silverstar something or other, that have always worked great in my friend's prelude, but they are terrible in my car at night, esp. in the rain. I can't see a thinggggg!!

Before I go and blow a bunch of money playing trial and error with headlights, I wanted to hear from some of you with GPs...what are the best headlights you've used?

most people are going to say to get HID's, myself included. i have 8000k's and there's a huge difference. there would be an even bigger difference if you get somewhere between 4300-6000k, those are more white and give off more useable light, i just wanted the blue tint. i don't have any other experience with different types, but an HID kit isn't horribly expensive, and the install isn't that tough. worth it in my opinion. how are you headlight housings? one of the first things i did was wet sand and polish mine to get some of the dirt buildup off. it won't make them completely clear but it will help more light get through
 
a little info I came across

Your factory halogen system is anywhere from 550 lumens to 1100 lumens.
HID kits range from 1200-3500 lumens; the 4300k bulbs being the most light output, and the purpleish 10000+k systems dipping down to 1200 lumens.

I suggest a 5000k HID kit. I'm thinking of getting a 55w HID kit after I get the projector headlights should be around 44% more Lumen output just for the low beams standard halogens silver star ultras for high beams I just dont want the warm up time of the hids when I flip on the high beams


also thinking about a 3000k 35w HID kit for the fog lights

Anything with a blue coating on the bulb limits the light output. Philips xtreme bulbs or GE nighthawks are some of the top bulbs that do not have a blue coating on the glass lens. A relay harness is also an option to run with halogen bulbs to get them a little brighter.

HID will give you the best light output if you choose to go HIDs.
 


I have silverstar ultras on now. I know the ge nighthawk platinums are better tho. I need to clean my housings or get some different ones soon.

umm... Its all one bulb so you cant get hid's and then sylverstar bulbs for ur high beams. Also HID's dont have a long warm up time, personally mine take less than 2 seconds. turn them on and there dim then the light up right away to full power, a halogen bulb can take upto 15 mins to reach its full light output.
 
like the above comments the best thing to do is HIDs. ive got silverstars and the next time they burn out(should be in the next few months), im getting HIDs. the same price as silverstars and better output....no brainer
 
The projectors my Lexus came with :)

Hids are nice, that or the GE night hawks or Ultra vision 50+ yes they might not look "white" but they put out the most usable light in a house not designed for a hid bulb.
