Putting in a switch for subwoofers

Either way I posted about opinions on a switch do that I'm not blasting subs with people in the car, but the info chamoltongave is useful, I'm not worried about draining as much, I just wanna put the cap in, I've seen it installed, I can get one cheap that works great so it's worth the little money I'm spending on it, and now I'll have it in case I upgrade to a higher output than what I'm planning which as of now is two ten inch subs with a max watts at 1000 and an amp with a max watts at 760. Whether or not that's a high enough output for a cap I dunno, I'm not an electrician but I gather basic install easily. So thank u all for the input on the cap but I got what I asked for which is info on the switch which if the info I've gotten is correct goes in the remote connect wire.

OP... Fine, go ahead and install a cap! H e l l put 5in for all i/we care.... Lol. Your wasting your time and elctrical. Just adding xtra strain on the electrical system.

again... Go to caraudio.com. Become a member, ask why you should or shouldnt use a cap. Dont be surprised if you get BLASTED! And not to mention this "switch" thing..??!! Hahaahhaaahaha

Drugs are bad mmk!

the switch is a great idea. i have used mine many many times.
...seriously? I'm still trying to figure out why someone would want to remove some desirable frequencies from their listening experience. I mean, I guess if you had a kid with some kind of medical problem prohibiting it, and you just have to listen to music when you chauffeur him... Maybe I'm not as imaginative as I used to be.

Well guess what, i do have hearing aids, I am partially deaf, after a while in my friends car with subs it gets to be a lil too much, not to mention I drive lots of people around not all of them young, they don't all appreciate loud subs, and yes it's also added peace of mind

Op... You dont need subs then. A single 8 or 10 along with good components will sound GREAT! Make sure u have or know some one is has SQ experiance. That part is KEY for a well tuened and great sound set up.... I know a sq guy that has a set of comps up from with a single 10... Prolly one of the best cars i HAVE EVER EVER HEARD!!! He also use to be in SQ comps. He knows his shiit! Lol. Still think the switch is a bad idea and i already know the cap is a STUPID idea.... :-).

Watever I got the info I asked for which is where the switch would go if it goes in. Ima just do what I planned on doing, why should I do different just bc ur preference is different. I have never seen nething I plan on doing damage a car, so I see no reason not to do it. I just prefer two subs to one, something about balance to me, on on either side of the trunk with individual boxes so I can sell one if I so choose eventually. And I picked the 10s bc they're shallow mounts nd I couldn't find many 8 shallow mounts with good reviews, and 12s too big so

i put my switch in for wen i am sitting waiting for people and i dont want to run my car but i still want music if i gonna sit for a while i will turn down the volume and just switch off the amp. then no worry about battery drain. i dont know how long a battery will last powering a amp with the car off so this is a easy solution to give me peace of mind.

so your saying if ya turn down the volume then there is no power going to the amp? or just not enough to worry about the battery getting drained?

There is soo much over thinking in this. Makes my head hurt

If your car dies from running the stereo for a few minutes with the car off, it's 2 things
A **** battery or a massive system
Or your cranking up the volume with the car off

Get yourself a nice red top. It will have the reserves to take the hits from the amp. Your lights should never dim at idle at a light. Even with the system pounding.

I wanna take a video of my gauges and amp at idle. You would be amazed. 14.1-13.8

I've contemplated a switch, but only because cops around here have a hard-on for loud music, and an instant killswitch totally puts me off the map the second I see a cop. Still have yet to do it, may never do it. Other than that I agree with there being not a single reason for a switch...

Noobs in car audio...... :-/. Cant fix stupid i guess!!

Some will learn most will not

Wow don't you sound like a dick. Really understand why people are hesitant to ask questions when people like you speak to other members like this. He doesn't understand. We have all been there. If your not going to contribute a suggestion or helpful comment then don't Post. I'm so tired of people like you. I really am. And the worst part is, I'm sure you don't know anything about car audio or electricity, just read a few threads and you think your an expert. I have news. I have had 5 years of higher level electrical engineering classes and I still have a ton to learn about car enginering. So please. Just shut up.

Tell me why the capacitor is a stupid idea. Give me a reason. We're trying to help people here. I would be willing to get you don't even know what a capacitor accomplishes in the car audio setting. Unless you have a reason to say something, don't. You just sound ignorant and misinformed.
