pulling the motor?

Is there anything special to do when pulling the 3800 out? ive got the top end off, so were gonna pull the lower and trans out.

Trans: best from the bottom? or pull it and motor at the same time?
Ive got BillBoosts' article handy, on pulling it from the bottom, but would it work just as well with the block attached through the top?
Im gonna have to get it done in the upcoming weeks so when it gets cold (in SC, haha yeah right) I can drive it rather than my z71.. cause the blower sucks in it.
plus I miss my 25 mpgs vs 12...

i would think pulling them together would be the way to go, its got to be some what easier to separate them when out of the car, and easier to get back together as well.

especially if you have a engine hoist and a trans stand. billboost made one.

ive never pulled one of these engines myself, but done a ton of rwd cars, and its always quicker and easier to pull them together, if possible.

yeah ive never pulled a fwd motor or trans. all my drivetrain skils are on rwd's. lol
or 4x4. I did the top end on this motor, but thats it.

I pulled mine from the top as a engine/trans combo and it went just fine. All my experience is in RWD as well, but as long as you don't catch the brake lines or rad on the way out its just as easy.

While you have it out you can line the trans up while the motor hangs from the hoist and wriggle it forward seating the converter and bolting it all up. Then just drop it back in. Done!

Word to the wise- watch the plastic fuel lines on these cars! You have to move them pretty far back to clear things and you don't want to snap one.

LOL...

check the FourSixer thread. You'll see a leveler comes in handy. Unbolt the mc from the booster and it'll flop. then you're home free.
