little bit more in depth on timing:
the spark plug actually fires a set amount of time before the piston reaches TDC (top dead center) because the fuel takes a certain time to burn. "timing" is actually a timing advance, meaning you can spark the air/fuel mix as the piston is still traveling upwards in hopes that the burn is complete and starts producing a force downward on the piston as close to tdc as possible, and therefore for the longest time. hence the more timing = more power. but if you go to far, you're going to induce knock. it'll spark too early and produce the downward force as the piston is still being forced up. it's measured in degrees of a complete cycle, like a circle. TDC to TDC is 360*, so if you have 18* of timing advance, you can actually figure out the distance from TDC the piston is when the spark goes off.

Ported Exhaust Manifold. Basically you take the stock manifolds and hand port them. Does it help?!?! Sometimes...
It's a free mod. I wouldn't pay someone for some PEM's if you gave me the money to do it. You're better off getting a Performance Log (PLOG) from ZZP or Headers.
