Pulley?

I was thinking of putting on aftermarket pulley after I get my exhaust done, and I was wondering if it is possible to use a puller like you would use to pull a harmonic balancer, etc. off with without damaging anything, or do you have to buy the special 150 dollar one. also how small of a pulley can you get before you need a transmission cooler or a low temp thermostat? i was thinking of going with the 3.4 or 3.2 from pfyc.

I was going to put a low temp thermostat on but I have been having problems with a po128 code, which is coolant temp below thermostat regulating temp, and I was afraid that a low temp thermostat would make it throw the same code. Is this true or not?

If you're only getting exhaust, a 3.4 is the lowest you should be thinking of. You probably can't even run that right without knocking.

the harmonic puller will not work, neither will a gear puller... you will end up bending the pulley rather than pulling it off.

I would go 3.4....and scan.

Ha...don't even try to drop a pulley size with just exhaust and a t-stat...

YOU NEED:

180*/160* T-Stat
CAI/HAI/FWI of some sort
PLOG/3" Downpipe
U-Bend Delete
PCM (overkill, DHP, Intense...)

Dropping a pulley size is the last thing I would do after bolt-ons...that is how I lost a motor 2 years ago...thought I had enough mods with no scanner...ended up grenading the 3rd piston...so unless a 500 motor or even more sounds good to go fast RIGHT NOW...then consider NOT swapping pullies until after you get MORE mods...

Basically I just want to see anyone go through what I did...

;)
