Pulley making metal grinding noise??

This has been going on for a while now and it got profoundly louder today. It sounds like metal on metal grinding. I looked down and the noise is clearly coming from the A/C compressor pulley. Do i need a whole new compressor? or can i just replace the pulley assembly? Thankyou

Well it's more than likley the bearings in the compressor that is making the noise.

I'm sure you can service the compressor. But i'm sure some special tools will be required.

I have a compressor that's used and in good shape. If you're intrested let me know.

mine has been making a whining sound for a while, goes away when you turn on a/c, its the a/c compressor bearings. You need to go to autozone and get two rental tools, One is a holder device and the other is a puller/installer tool. Once you take off the clutch, the bearing is right there, its like $30 at autozone or advance auto parts.

I'm having the same issue but the pulley tool fits into the threads, but not between my wheel well and the unit. What can I do?

So we've managed to get the clutch and everything off, but now we're having an issue getting it back on. The pulley needs to go on about 1/8 inch further but no matter what, we can't seem to get it go to on further to be in line with the rest of the pulleys on that belt. The porcelain piece is touching the block, but I don't remember what angle the electronic plug was at when we took it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated; I haven't driven in 3 days.
