Projector Cut Off Mod and Nightshots..

ok guys so i drove with my projectors on tonight for the first time and had them adjusted all the way up and they made a clean line of light but it was way to defined on the road and too close...i shouldnt be able to see a line on the road that should disappear in the distance and i should be able to see far in front of me and with these lights it wasnt working....so i decided to remove the brackets and projector pod and see what the cut off it like....turns out they made it too high i ended up taking a 1/8 inch off the top of the cutoff plate and it made a world of difference...here how i did it....

Measure a 1/8 inch from the top of the cut off plate and draw a line...then cut if off carefully be sure to cut it clean otherwise your cutoff will be choppy...after i cut mine with tin snips it had gotten a lil bent on the edge so i put it on a flat surface and lightly tapped it flat again with a hammer....i then sanded the top and sides of the new edge i made (the closer you can get the edge look like a level knife edge the better, the projector is a magnifying device so any minor imperfection in your new edge and it will be magnified and you'll see a bumpy cutoff line so make sure you take your time making it as clean as the original edge...pics below

i really love thoes halo projectors, its funny how they cost so much and yet they have to be re built in order to work lol

so do the projectors still only use a single bulb? just currious cause i dont want to lose my brights for HIDS. :(

The projectors use H1 bulbs for the projector and 9005 for the high beams. You won't need your high beams. Trust me.

did you use a 9007 ballast with a h1 bulb im assuming? and did you utilize brights or no?

Yeah I did. I was a running a bi-xenon set up when I had 9007 HIDs. I used 4 ballasts for that set up. I also ordered the bi-xenon relay harness from 3B Specialties to run all four ballasts. I kept two ballasts and just ordered a set of H1 bulbs from autoluminate on ebay. I also kept the harness. So I have two connectors going to the ballasts which goes to the HID bulb. The other two connectors I plugged straight into the halogen bulbs. The connector fit fine on the halogen bulbs for the high beams. I taped off the driver side stock headlamp conector since it is not being used. The relay harness gets the trigger from the passenger side stock headlamp connector.

I also suggest you keep an eye on the clear coat on the projectors. After a year of owning mine, the clear coat has begun to come off. There is another guy on club gp that bought them during the group buy like I did that is having the same issue.

with silverstars in em now.....pretty white light and a lil blue came out of these when you look at my lights at the right angle they look blue kinda like the caddy HIDS :) the modded cutoff plate + silver stars = night vision at its best lol cant wait to get HIDS!
