Just bought a 2002 Grand Prix GT for $650 with 155,631 miles. I thought it was a steal, she needs quite a bit of work though ($2500 of work). What are some suggestions of things I should do right away. I need brakes and eberything under the hood is leaking, but it's all still good and the engine is strong.

all grand prixs are a project car.............. they all break.

keep it driveable keep fluids topped off spend money on catastrophic issues not if but when needed ex. transmission.

fvck the paint job multicolor mechanically sound + race car parts 1st lol.

Needs $2500...that's not a good car. Maybe we can help you save some dinero if you tell us what needs to be fixed up on it.

Color.. bah

^ This, its a GM, itll never have everything right at the same time.
Careful with valve cover gaskets the OEM ones started fires on some of these cars, if it hasn't been replaced yet, a GM dealer will replace one of them no charge.

Flush the transmission, spark plugs, check the cooling system make sure its not all goopy from mixing fluids or Dexron decay.

if you have to do anything like replacing ball joints or hub bearings, go ahead and replace the sway bar end links, new ones firm up the car a little in my experience. They only cost like $10-$20

gaskets leak..but they didn't cause the fires. The close proximity exhaust shield is the only thing I see them changing that isn't on every other body style 3800, that no recalls ever happened on.

Id say be careful flushing the transmission fluid with that many miles if it has never been done before. I'd say take a quart out and add some Lucas transmission fluid.

I thought it had something to do with the spark plug covers. I had my car recalled and that is all they replaced on mine.

Needs a new oil pan, all fluids changed, brakes all the way around, lots more I can't remember at the top of my head. ALSO I need a new drivers side seat as a 600lb person destroyed the support.

Also one of the rims is cracked, but I have rims to put on it, which I'm super excited about.

all 3 wbody cars ive owned have had issues with the seats. Let me guess, its on the left side, towards the rear of the seat?

Yup haha. I shoved a pillow under it and its fine for now, ha. Never had problems with my 1998 GP GT that I had a few years ago, although that was leather, so maybe its not the same.

Also having trouble with my headlights not fitting right, is there an easy way to fix this or is it a bumper issue?

They all have gaps for days............. good luck fixing that issue.

Otherwise make sure both tabs on the headlight bracket go into the metal bracket on the body, otherwise it will fit all goofy.

Well yea, theyre in the bracket, but thats exactly why they don't fit right, ha. I feel like I just want to make my own holes in it to fit better.
