• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

project 12s buick (headers, 3.4, and tune coming now!)

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

I reused my stockers probably 15 times. Not that I'm saying my crap came apart more than once..but ya know. Never had a leak. Never used RTV. Follow my header install thread..except don't lower your subframe and you'll have no issues.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

If you read it..then you should have known which gaskets and if RTV is acceptable.

You lose points for RTV

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Mistakes.......you are bound to make many. It's cool...cause you'll learn from them.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Mmmmm nopes.

The ones into the heads will behave because they are not rusty in the heads from being heated constantly and being similar metal to the heads. Plus..likely they've been soaked in oil plenty in the past. (Leaky VC's FTW).

the ones at the crossover..the trick there is loosen only a turn or two before doing the same to the other bolt. Otherwise you get a ton of pressure on one and snappooo. Not that snapping is bad, it'll save you turns on the wrench.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

Want another? You don't have a catback flange to connect the headers to your stock pipes. You want to get a 3" to 2.5" reducer and some clamps. Then you'll need a rear O2 bung to be welded in.

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

he has a o2 in the headers already. so do you think he has a 02 bung alread on. where can i get the reducer autozone?

Re: project 12s buick (engine tear down)

That bung is the upstream or front bung. That's always there. The rear bung will be in the piece with the reducer/flange. Which you can't use, unless you weld a flange on your pipe after you cut it. The GP's have stock piping of 2.25", you being a PA and real car have 2.5" based on the charger. Another smile and laugh at the GP guys item.

Check all your parts stores. I think Napa had one or could get me one.
