Programming new key fobs...2008 Grand Prix

Every time I look up info about programming new key fobs, I find the same dead end: "you must take your fob to a dealership" (and fork over $70 for them to program it). Is there any way around this insanity? Is GM really laughing at us and raking in the cash? :th_laugh-lol2::th_laugh-lol2::th_laugh-lol2: I love my 2008 Grand Prix, please don't make me hate GM! :th_shakinghead2:

What FiveFinger said. I bought a replacement and they charged me $50 for my 06 GXP. They said they will program as many fobs as needed for the $50, so I had them try and reprogram a bad one to see if it fixed it.

If im not mistaken, If you already have One keyfob programmed to the car, you can do the relearn process (not the programming process)
and add another Fob. If you dont have one programmed, yes you will need a dealer or someone w/a Tech II scanner to get it programmed to ur car.

I was able to circumvent the problem by having the defective fobs repaired through keylessfix.com, so I didn't have to buy new remotes. It probably saved me over a hundred dollars....and the anger of forking over stupid cash for programming.
