Programming Mode Issue?

I've been trying to reprogram a few features of my car. I know I'm in programming mode, for I've followed the steps to get into it (as listed in the manual), and have been able to reprogram some of the features to what I want them to be.
But, when trying to program the "Locking Notification" feature (having the lights flash when the doors are remote-locked, or having the horn honk, or having it do nothing). Currently, my car is set to have no notification that it's locked - if I'm not close enough to hear the locking sound of the doors, I don't know if it locked. But the car won't let me program this feature, although other feature, even lock-related features, can be programmed with success.

Any ideas, or similar problems?
 


1998, GT trim.

It could be my remote lock/unlock. When I bought the car, the remote had a notoriously short range, so I replaced its battery, thinking that might be the issue. But when I took it apart, part of the case broke, so maybe it's a problem on that end?

The remote lock key has the lock, unlock, and trunk release buttons, no panic button, if that makes a difference.
