program new key fob?

has anybody had any experience with programing a new key fob, or could point me in the right direction to find out? everything i have found hasnt had any luck. I was hoping to avoid the 50 $ charge at the dealership.

04+ needs a Tech 2 tool to program it. Its either a dealer, or a mechanic with the tool. Sometimes locksmiths will be able to do it. Either way, you will be paying to do it.
 
yeah thats what i was afraid of, and from what little bit ive been reading, i doubt the snap-on scan tool at my work will do the job
 
Your best bet to get it done cheaply is probably a locksmith. Locally they charged my dad $15 for a program on his 06.
