Problem with heater & Air control

My Wife's 2003 Grand Prix has a problem with her heat and air control. When you turn on the blower it mostly all blows out the bottom even when we turn it on the face vents or defroster. I would like to know what to do to fix it and how to get instructions hopefully with pics and get it working for her again. I wouldn't even mind if there were a manual way for me to change the setting without too much trouble, but I can't figure out where the actuator is. It also has a problem where it leaks water on the passenger side floor board when it rains kind of hard or long. I don't know if the two problems are related. I'm a pretty good diy er but these newer cars are harder to figure out than the old ones. Any information and links to some good clear instructions would be very much appreciated.

search "blend door issue" on this site, it should bring to to some threads with that issue.

Water is the passenger side floor board is also something you can search and it'll bring you to a thread on the issue and the part you can buy from the dealer to fix it.

the actuator is on the sides of the hvac control box under the dash in front of the console. but that just controls the heat or cold air. what you may need to look at is the vacuum operated pump. in the lower right of the pic with the vac line coming off it. ( you have one on each side) you also have a vac line under the hood that goes to this, its runs from under the windshield cowl down the pass side fender, and across the front of the car to a round ball in the driver side bumper. check that line for leaks or breaks. its hard plastic.

to see these pumps, you need to remove the glove box and to the left you will see it, the d/s is harder to get to, the plastic trim under the steering wheel needs to come off then the steel knee bolster, and the foot cover under by your feet, look to the right and its right up front.

i'd check under the hood before tearing all this apart to look at it, if you find nothing under the hood then take a look at the pumps, if you suck or blow into the line it should make it work. or at least feel vac or blowing from the line off the pump when the car is running and operating the controls.

Thanks for the response it really helped. I wired the passenger side open so the air conditioning is working much better, it was all coming out down by her feet. I couldn't find the main line to check it. Maybe I have to remove stuff under the front of the car to see it. So what piece would you think is most likely bad? Since none of the air direction - diversion controls seem to be working. It switches from heat to air controller and the blower works.
