Problem with engine hesitating/shaking at speed

I found this question posted on another forum back in 2007 but it was never really answered, it's pretty much the exact issue that has just started happening:

"It seems like I have a loss of power when accelerating and driving around 50-60 mph at ~2k rpm. The car also sputters and rpm begins to fluctuate while driving."

Acceleration seems fine in my case but once I'm up to speed and the engine settles down it starts to hesitate/shake. I'm wondering if it's an injector issue? I've also seen some people suggest MAF sensor, could that cause this?

It's a 2006 with 150K miles. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Stopped in at Autozone last night to have them check for codes but found none. As for tune up, plugs were replaced last summer, dealer ran it through their fuel system/injection cleaning system. There were a couple of plugs that had an issue, I'll try and attach a picture later. At the time, it was throwing a cylinder mis-fire. Changed the plugs and everything was fine. I wondered about an injector issue but wouldn't that cause a problem no matter what speed/rpm, even at idle?

I've seen some mention checking the catalytic converter and exhaust system for clogs, how do I go about doing that?

Your probably going to need another tune up pull plugs. I would also highly recommend you go about reading up on oil consumption fixes for the ls4 and actually. Having a tune doe that let's you only enter dod mode at highway speeds.

I'll pull some plugs this weekend and see how they look. After driving last night and this morning I'm started to think it's a transmission issue. The problem seems to be occurring at lower speeds now and this morning it didn't seem like it wanted to go into gear. I'm really not looking forward to taking this thing into the dealer.

Well, took it in to the dealer. Transmission is fried  They want to replace but can't afford that price. Going to check out some local transmission shops. Anyone here from central Indiana that can recommend someone?

Iirc triple edge performance is in your state give Dave a call. He's one of the most reputable gm 4t65-e trans rebuilders out there

I bought an 05 GXP last August used from Carmax. I just had my transmission go like that, only it sheared itself to bits within about a half hour of me noticing the car starting to shake. Thank goodness for an extending warranty. Happened at 99,000 miles

Ended up the whole 2nd gear assembly was trashed as well as a crack that was causing loss of hydraulic pressure, apparently the torque converter was full of debris. Got the vehicle back last week and seems to be running fine, shifting seems a little different so I'll be keeping an eye on that. Naturally, after dropping $3200 for a rebuilt transmission what do you think happens next? Yesterday leaving work it took nearly 20 minutes for my A/C to finally kick in. Hoping it's not serious, my wife will have a fit if I have to put more money it this car :) Thanks everyone for the help.
