I have an 07 na with 212 000kms and of course without fail , another leaking lower intake gasket. Should have been a recall lol. Anyway I've done this once before on my other 3800 and was just wondering if there's anything I can do while I have the lower intake off. I mean anything I can do while I have it apart that far. Like maybe the valve cover gaskets. I thought about the timing chain but was thinking if all that extra work is worth it for fuel economy or more power since these are almost bulletproof lol. Thanks for any feedback,

I'm surprised you've had to do the LIM gaskets on that motor at that low of mileage, but I digress.

Make sure you use the updated aluminum LIM gaskets on it. Dab some grey RTV at the 4 corners of the block/heads before you set the small parts of the LIM gasket down. Then throw the new LIM gasket on top. Goal is to seal the corners.

Leave the timing chain alone if it's not causing an issue. I have over 350K on my stock chain on my 00 GT and it runs fine.

Replace the valve cover gaskets AND grommets. Use the good Fel-Pro kit. Check out RockAuto as they usually have all these parts for a good price. If you don't already have them then go with the aluminum coolant elbows too. Just be sure to clean out the ports on the intake and timing cover really well so they seal good. No RTV needed. Just lube the O-rings a bit on install and make sure they're square when you tighten everything down.

If you are still running factory plugs/wires then I would replace those too. Some Delco iridium plugs and a cheap set of 7mm wires and call it a day. The iridium plugs come pre-gapped so it should be an easy swap.

I would also replace all of the fuel injector O-rings. Fel-Pro also makes a good set for these.

change the serp belt while all thats off. flush cooling system and heater core. new t stat. new heater core hoses if not done yet.

Thanks guys..... this is golden. I had an 08 na of course and at 100 000kms the intake was spitting. But I love these motors..... that's y we all own em I guess lol. One thing I didn't understand is Dab some grey RTV at the 4 corners of the block/heads before you set the small parts of the LIM gasket down. Then throw the new LIM gasket on top. Goal is to seal the corners.
U mean set the gasket under the lower intake before setting it in place??
Has new plugs wires.
Will do the rest of info given

When you get a LIM gasket set it should come with the 2 long ones that go on the heads, and then the 2 short ones that go on the front and back edge of the block. I've always put some RTV in the corners where the heads meet the block, then stick the short block gasket on, then dab a little more in the corners on the topside of those small gaskets. Then set the gaskets on the heads and drop the lower intake back on and start bolting it back together.

I ordered a limiter master set. Had the same part number as Mahle which makes decent stuff for the racing side. My options are pretty limited at this time. Hope there good
