Pressure control solenoid, anyone got a writeup on changing it?

I have a 99GTP with 70k on it and it has been slow to shifting lately and is getting worse. I've been reading up around here on similar conditions and it seems that the culprit is probably the PCS. I have some time off this next week and I want to go ahead and replace it.

I haven't bought a Haynes manual in the hopes that I never needed it, but I have no clue how to go about changing this part. Anyone have a writeup on changing it?

I also want to know if there are any suggestion on what i should do while im inside the damm thing. should i go and install a shift kit while at it to reduce this from happening again?

I've been pretty fammilar with my manual trans in the camaro, but i've never touched this car with a wrench yet so any information would be helpful.

ya does anyone have a write up on changing the Pressure Control Solenoid? Im in the process of replacing it some extra info would be greatly appreciated ;)

It's under epc help thread by me. I think I may get mine done by a shop though since it seems like a lousy job to do on the ground.

its takes some time to do... I replaced my epc a few months ago... I don't have a write up or anything because my brother is the one that changed it. I know the epc is on the side though and of course the trans needed to be dropped as well as one of the axles. Labor costs of this job are through the roof. It wasn't that hard to do, just takes time. If you do it yourself you'll save a good $800+.

ya im in the process of doing it right now, except i dont have a socket big enough to remove the spindle to get the axle off. So i went to napa and they said they had no idea what size it but they said a 32mm would fit, that costs $28.95 so i bought it and it didn't even fit it was too small. Does anyone know the correct size to remove the spindle to get the axle off?

Damn, I was quoted arounf $400 from mr transmission. I thought $400 is bad, $800 would be crazy!

Thats about what i got on a quote, but I couldn't justify paying someone to do the work on something so easy.

Then I actually did the part swap, and I think I might pay a guy if it ever happens again.

Yea, seems like a quick fix but def wasn't

Its in the tool section, but not with all of the sockets. My socket was an actual orelleys tool though.

Haha, I feel the same way but when I look into how much work it is I think I will be getting the shop to do mine.

when removing the epc & shift solenoids do you have to remove the valve body to get them out? or do they pull or slide out without removing the valve body?
