premium gas

If your not using premium in your BOOSTED car...your asking for trouble.

Boost + U-Bend + Lots of heat + low octane gas = knock knock fun time?

Yes.

91+ or higher, it's just what...2 or 3 more bucks per fill up?

I was on empty once, broke, only had like 10 bux til payday... had to make the call... went with 87 cuz it was cheaper.... GTP ran like dog sheet! boggy, missed at idle, never again... NEVA!!!! :th_shakinghead1:

just pay the extra amount and skip out on the Vente Iced Mocha @ Starbucks

Besides... read the owners manual... it states on supercharged option 91 minimum octane required ;)

My 2001 GTP manual says to run only 93 octane gas, I have never put anything else but that in my car for its full 85,000 miles, runs great.

^^Most of them say it even in the gas door too...hell I ran 91 in the Cobalt and I run 92+ in the GT because of the aggressive timing tables.

"If your vehicle has the 3800 Supercharged V6 engine (VIN Code I ), use only premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of 91 or higher. In an emergency, you may be able to use a lower octane - as low a 87- if heavy knocking does not occur. Refill your tank with premium fuel as soon as possible. If you are using 91 octane or higher-octane fuel and you hear knocking, your engine needs service."

Section 5-5 of your manual... if you don't have one

Lets say you fill up once a week.

17 (gallons) x .20 (cents) = $3.40

$3.40 (weekly) x 4 (weeks in a month) = $13.60

$13.60 (monthly) x 12 (months in a year) = $163.20

Don't cheap out and do pay the $163.20 extra. You decided to get a Supercharged vehicle, keep up with what is required. $163.20 a year is not that much to save up.. and that's IF you go through a full tank in 7 days.

And that $163 extra, really isn't more money spent when you figure out MPG's. You will get more MPG on 91/93 because the ECU isn't pulling timing and making you run like crap. More MPG = less fuel having to be put into tank.

wtf dank I would never do that, maybe like $1 worth of diesel as I hear it makes for a good fuel system cleaner.
