Now my 98 GS

I ran M1 once when it was 18 buxs a gallon @ wally world.

I can speak for the benefits of Royal Purple I just did a fresh build on my engine at 105k after using nothing but RP since I bought the car at 27k the insides of this engine still look like brand new ,the rod and mains were spotless and the cylinder walls were perfect,I would say using RP you should get an easy 200k before it needs freshening up ,it certainly pays to use the best oil.Chico.

and thats why i will always keep puttin nothing but RP in my cars, its the only way to go. or amsoil is mad good as well

ive used royal purple and i also use lucas sysnthetic oil stabilizer with k&n filters since day one when i got my GTP.oil changes run me around 60-70 bucks.

anyone crazy enough to run royal purple or any other full synthetic oil in their car likes it a little too much. its a grand prix and another low mileage used motor is $500. ill save money and do $20 oil changes.

Well I run a Group IV, full synthetic oil with a good additive package and an oil change usually costs me <$30. Then again, your engine is so fuct up at this point, it probably wouldn't matter anyway.

haha, how do you know? it runs just fine when i get in it everyday. :p

If you have to run a 40 wt just to stay above 10 PSI, something is seriously wrong. Beating on it all of the time in that condition makes me think you've got a time bomb under your hood.

not my problem once i sell it. i just took it on a road trip (3.5 hours there, 3.5 hours back). ran like a champ. with it being that hot it idles at around 16-18 psi. im not too worried about it, at like 2k RPM its already over 40 psi. since i changed my oil and filter it seems to be doing much better.

I prefer Amsoil as well. When I did a cam swap in my Impala and I stripped down the motor it looked brand new inside.

yea but my motors only got 58k on it. so i plan on keepin that baby for a while. im meticulous when it comes to my car, i only put the best of the best in...

I run 10w30 Valvoline Conventional Oil, and on my original 170,000 mile long block. I still hold 50-55 psi oil pressure at idle and it has been confirm with 2 different gauges. It works for me.

My family have take motors several hundred thousand miles on Valvoline Conventional oil without and problems. My parents currently have a little 318 V8 somewhere in the 400,000 range, probably closer to 500,000 nowadays. Motor is original with very little problems, heads have never been off the block!

Our secret? Change oil every 2,500-3,000 miles or 4 months, nothing big. Theres nothing wrong with conventional either, it works just as good too.

IMO, i'd rather change oil at the rate I do now, than to run Syn like many out there do and run there oil up to 7,000-15,000 miles or over a year on the same motor oil. Thats my opinion though.

Pick you're poision, both will work.

haha i run royal purple and i still change it at 3000 miles... i dont like to run it out that long

I'm with IronIndian. I use castrol gtx 5w-30 in my GTP, it has 139k on it now, runs perfect. previous owner changed oil ever 3-6k miles.
I do run Mobil 1 in my 2000 Blazer, but has now a small oil leaks in caouple places, the first 115k my dad used regular oil, I think the synth. made it start to leak. I do extend the changes to 7-9k and even after that the oil look real good.
I read somewhere a NYC taxi company did an experiment with oil and found the cheapest oil worked just a good as top of the line synthetic, just as long as it was kept filterd and changed.
